Oakland caster banned from appearing for black-speaking

The Oakland Athletics, heading for their worst season, this time had an accident in which a dedicated broadcast caster made a mistake.

NBC Sports California, the broadcaster that hosts the Athletics, announced in a statement on the 7th (Korean time) that Glenn Quipper, a dedicated caster for the Athletics, will be suspended from broadcasting “until the investigation into the incident is completed.”

Quipper made a slip of the tongue during his opening remarks during the match between Oakland and Kansas City Royals held at Coffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri the previous day.

He said he had visited the Negro League Museum in Kansas City, and pronounced the word ‘Negro’ oddly. He sounded like a demeaning word for a similarly pronounced black man.

It may have been a mispronunciation, but it was clear that the intention was an unacceptable mistake anyway.

Ahead of the start of the 6th episode, Quiper said, “There is a word that came out in a different way from what I wanted during the previous broadcast. I would like to apologize if it sounded different from what I intended,” he apologized for his remarks.

He admitted his mistake, but the words that were spilled cannot be taken back. In the end, I had to let go of the mic for a while.먹튀검증

The Athletics club said, “Our club does not tolerate such comments,” and said that they were aware of the situation.

Bob Kendrick, director of the Negrorig Museum, also tweeted: “I welcomed Quiper to the museum the day before and he enjoyed his visit. The words he used are painful and should not exist in our society. I will not pretend to know what the other person thinks, but what I do know is that my heart has a heart of forgiveness,” he expressed regret.

Quipper has been broadcasting baseball for NBC Sports California since 1992. This year marks his 20th season as a dedicated caster for the Athletics.
