Pete Alonso (New York Mets), who was hit with a ball in his left hand during a game, will be sidelined for three to four weeks.
The Mets announced on the 10th (Korean time) that Alonso was placed on the injured list.
Diagnosed with his bone contusion and left wrist sprain, Alonso is expected to take three to four weeks to recover.
In a game against the Atlanta Braves on the 8th, Alonso was hit on the left wrist by a ball thrown by starting pitcher Charlie Morton from 2nd out and 1st base in the top of the 1st inning. Alonso, who felt severe pain, was immediately substituted.
It is the first time Alonso, who made his major league debut in 2019, has been on the injured list since missing 10 days in 2021 due to right wrist pain.
MLB.com said, “Alonso has been the most durable player since becoming a major leaguer, appearing in 97.4% (592 games) of the Mets.”
“Alonso’s absence is a huge loss for the Mets. Alonso was responsible for 29 percent of the Mets’ home runs and 18 percent of their RBIs,” he added.먹튀검증
Alonso hit 22 arches this season and ranks first in home runs in the major leagues, but his long absence has created a variable in the home run competition.
